IMPACT Awards

The IUPUI IMPACT Awards are designed to encourage and honor individuals for their achievements and contributions through public and community service. Through these champions, we seek to energize volunteering in the workplace. The IMPACT awards will put a spotlight on the tremendous individual achievements that our staff have accomplished throughout the year.

These awards are given out once a month to an IUPUI staff member who shows tremendous dedication and impact in the community. Know someone who is doing great work outside of their job in the community? Nominate them for an impact award today!

Nomination & Award Details

Once a month IUPUI will distribute an IUPUI IMPACT Award. This will be decided upon by a selection committee composed of ONE member from each of the following IUPUI departments:

  • Community Relations
  • Center for Service and Learning
  • Center on Philanthropy
  • School of Public and Environmental Affairs
  • Human Resources
  • Staff Council

Each April, a special breakfast will be held celebrating the impact IUPUI has made in the community, both as a university, and as individuals. Each winner will be spotlighted and all volunteers and nominees throughout the year will be invited to share in this great impact event.

Eligibility requirements

Any full time IUPUI staff member is eligible for this award.

Nominating Process

Nominating will be open all year round via this online form. The nominating form will require the person nominating to speak of the actions of the said nominee. The selection process will be based on the following criteria:

  • a volunteer who contributes significantly to improving quality of life for others through hands-on work
  • Innovation: successfully engages volunteers in an innovative and creative style.
  • Leadership: exemplifies inspirational leadership and initiative through teaching, coaching, organizing, serving on boards and committees and / or other leadership roles within the community.
  • Performs in an outstanding and courageous manner during an emergency situation.
  • Overall Impact: extraordinary commitment to volunteering, creating a lasting impression on our community with passion and inspiration.

Who can nominate?

Any member of the IUPUI family or any nonprofit organization may make a nomination. Restrictions are that you cannot nominate yourself, and a winner will not be eligible for a second nomination until one calendar year has elapsed. Employees are not limited in the number of nominations they can make in any calendar year.

Telling the story

Each winner's story will be told throughout IUPUI:

  • Winner will be spotlighted on the IUPUI home page, Inside IUPUI, JagNews, and The Spot.
  • They will be archived on the community relations web site.
  • Their name will be included on a future 'community impact wall of fame'.
  • A 'montage' of all 12 recipients and their stories will be played at the annual breakfast.

Each winner receives a plaque, a certificate from Chancellor Bantz, and recognition at the April breakfast.
