Indianapolis Indians "Baseball in Education"

IUPUI is proud to partner with the Indianapolis Indians (AAA baseball league - Pittsburgh) for 3 games each season entitled “Baseball in Education”. The purpose of these days is to show students that baseball can be educational, and learning can be fun, by applying America's favorite pastime to subjects like English, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

The Indians have developed a curriculum based on Indiana's academic standards. The curriculum, which includes activities that can be done before, during and after the game, is appropriate for students in kindergarten through eighth grade and high school students in sports marketing classes.

The Indians will add to the learning experience by offering educational trivia for students between innings at each of the games.

IUPUI and its student athletes participate with more than 10,000 Indianapolis students each year showing them how important it is to go to college and that it takes the skills that they are learning through Baseball in Education to help get them there.

IUPUI student athletes often volunteer at Baseball in Education. Above, Jaguars star George Hill hangs out at a 2008 game.
